New Teleserye in the Phil: Ang babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang

April 20, 2009 by pinoyevergreen

Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang  is an adaptation of Carlo J. Caparas’ celebrated graphic novel, which in turn produced a film version in the 1980’s starring Vivian Velez and Eddie Rodriguez. The series has 80 episodes. It premeired on Feb. 2, 2009 on GMA network.

angbabaenghinugotsaakingtadyang72In this teleserye version, is about Homer Alcaraz (Dingdong Dantes), a young man who leads a boring life. His relationship with Helene Barrientos (Angelu De Leon), his fiancé, is falling apart and yet he is oblivious from it. He wakes up one morning, only to find Proserfina J. Valdez (Marian Rivera) an intriguingly beautiful woman, lying beside him..

When I saw the title of this teleseye, i though what?! what the hell does the title mean? so i searched for its meaning. Its english meaning is “The woman pulled from my rib” The first thing i thought was ADAM and EVE. I remembered something about Eve  taken from from the rib of Adam.

So The Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, He took one of the man’s ribs [also translated took part of the man's side] and closed up the place with flesh. Then The Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:21-24)

I guess the title was used because it resonates the story of Adam and Eve. I think viewers can expect intrigue, deception and temptation to be the themes of the show. Temptation becuase of Eve tempting Adam to eat the forbidden fruit. Deception because Eve tricked Adam to taste the forbidden fruit. I think it will be interesting to see some of these themes in a series and how it is portrayed. I dont really know if  kids can see this series but i suggest they dont be allowed to watch it. This kind of teleserye is for adults only.

You changed my life

You changed my life official poster

YOU CHANGED MY LIFE is the sequel to the blockbuster hit “A Very special love“. I think that this movie provided the characters to know more about themselves. It expanded their personality and it allowed the audience to feel a sort of kinship to the leading role of Laida (Sarah Geronimo). We all know that when we finally meet someone and fall in love that its not happily ever after. You have to exert some effort to make things work. Every woman can relate to Laida because she felt that her love for Miggy(John Llyod) was more than how much Miggy loves her. We can relate to it as a woman because we think that in every relationship its either a girl loves her guy more or a guy loves her girl more. But the fact is, love shouldnt be measured. it wasnt meant that way. Each has a way of showing it. I loved this movie becuase it portrayed how Miggy even though he wasnt an open guy, he tried his best and to show Laida everytime he can how much he loves her so expect a lot of romantic monents that would  make you wanna sigh and fall in love with John Llyod. Actually this kind of love reminds of the movie Twilight, inspired by the novel of Stephenie Meyer. I remember Edward Cullen said to Bella in the novel, “Do you truly believe that you care more for me than I do for you?” It shows how people feel that love should be evenly measured, but this is a wrong perspective on love.

The movie revolves around after the happily ever after. What happends when you found your true love? Both characters learn to deal with work and love especially Miggy who was given a Manufacturing Company to manage. It kept them apart because of the hectic schedules. How far would you go to keep the one you love?

This is the official trailer of the movie. If you are interested in getting a copy right here in the United States, go to EVERGREEN.

When I Met You

April 16, 2009 by pinoyevergreen

Wen I met you official poster I watched a movie last night, WHEN I MET YOU. Now, i cant even stop singing the song in my head. The official theme song or soundtrack of When I Met You is sang once again by the daughter of Megastar, Sharon Cuneta which is an original cut by the Apo Hiking

When I Met You

There I was, an empty piece of a shell
Just minding my own world
Without even knowing, what love and life were all about
Then you came,
You’ve brought me out of the shell
You gave me the world to me, and before
I knew, there I was so in love with you

Chorus
You gave me a reason for my being
And I love what I’m feeling
You gave me a meaning to my life
Yes, I’ve gone beyond existing
And it all began, when I met you

II
I love the touch of your hair
And when I look in your eyes, I just know
I know, I wanted something good
And I’m sure, my love for you will endure
Your love light up my world and take all my cares
Away where they can’t bother me

Chorus
You gave me a reason for my being
And I love what I’m feeling
You gave me a meaning to my life
Yes, I’ve gone beyond existing
And it all began, when I met you

Bridge:
You taught me how to love
You showed me how tomorrow and today
My love, is different from the yesterday
I knew, you taught me to love
And darling, I will always cherish you!
Today, tomorrow and forever…

And I’m sure, our evening will come around
I know, we’ll be making love, like never before
My love, who could asked for more

Chorus
You gave me a reason for my being
And I love what I’m feeling
You gave me a meaning to my life
Yes, I’ve gone beyond existing
And it all began, when I met you

KC Conception sang it really well. I didnt expect her to have a voice and act so well. KC and Richard Gutierrez’s chemistry was undeniable and even better than their first team up in “For the First Time”. I thought the movie was gonna be one of the typical ones but it was actually well made, i love the characters and the plot was unique, exciting and the setting was very romantic. SPOILER ALERT: the story is about Jenny(KC Conception), a mall promodizer who hitches a ride on with a pilot named Benjie(Richard Gutierrez) to attend a wedding in Palawan. On the way to the wedding, the two dont get a long with each other. Thetwo had no choice but to deal with each other when their plane crashed on an island in Palawan. What seems to be a disaster turned into an adventure and a romance. Both find themselves falling in love…

but what do they do when Jenny has a boyfriend and Benjie has a fiancee.

If you want to more about the movie, go to the official website, http://www.regalmultimedia.net/whenimetu/

But i suggest you buy the movie itself because its worth repeating over and over again. i bought mine at EVERGREEN.

Pinoy pride

April 16, 2009 by pinoyevergreen

Who would have ever thought that as big as the United States is, there is a community of Filipinos in Carson City. The population of Asians including Filipinos have now been numbered to 1800. In this small city, there are thriving filipino businesses, one of which is EVERGREEN. It has a LOT of filipino movies. Since i’ve been living in the United States, there are just some things that you miss back home. I will always love the teleseryes and remember Judy Ann Santos.  Filipino movies are a part of our culture,we should embrace it and cultivate it to the fullest extent. This is what we mean by pinoy pride. Evergreen is the best wholesale store that offers good service, excellent variety of filipino movies and entertainment. I truly recommend that every filipino visit their site, buy their stuff and enjoy what they have to offer.
